Saturday, March 14th, 'Vision Meets Vision' was auctioned and sold at the Chessmen Club’s 68th Annual Gala.
The painting was donated to the Chessmen Club alongside a signed copy of the book it was created for, Protecting a Dream: The Life of Chief Bill Logan Jr. and His Historic Moments with Dr. King by Dr. Gilo Kwesi Logan. I was (and am) happy to give back in this way to one of the organizations that helped make it possible for me to study art and African-American Studies in the first place.
Up until this point, I've only shared Limited Edition prints of the Protecting a Dream series, making 'Vision Meets Vision' the first original to be released. Stay tuned, more original works from the series coming soon!

'Vision Meets Vision'
Before there was legacy,
there was alignment.
The founders of the Chessmen Club shake hands
over a drawn game of chess.
The draw becomes its own quiet metaphor—
not competition, but agreement.
Strategy meets strategy.
Vision meets vision.
What began as hope in their hearts
became substance in their hands—
a dream solidified not by one mind alone,
but by the meeting of two.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.”
— Ecclesiastes 4:9
And while we're on the topic of two...
A special shoutout to Chiefs of Police Schenita Stewart of Evanston and Schonella Stewart of Beloit, who were honored at the Chessmen Gala for their leadership and lasting impact in community service. I’ve experienced their support firsthand and am grateful for the way they continue to show up as members of my family of art collectors.

I’m so happy to welcome new members into our family and to honor those already a part of it.
Thank you all for being on this journey with me.
Love,
Maia Faith
